ORBERRY FEMALE CULTIVAR
Dora sea buckthorn variety
The quality cultivar of the Orberry range. Dora holds the record for ascorbic acid — 1,050 mg per 100 g of juice, almost three times the other cultivars — and for carotenoids (32.2 mg), in a small, spherical, dark-orange-to-red fruit. It yields less by weight (14–16 t/ha) but delivers unmatched biochemical value.

COMMERCIAL CHARACTERISTICS
A variety for professional orchards.
FRUIT & PROCESSING
Purpose-led genetics.
Dora is suited to the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, where the buyer pays for content rather than tonnage. Its strengths are 1,050 mg of ascorbic acid and 32.2 mg of carotenoids per 100 g of juice, plus phenols and polyphenols; oil 5.6%. Small spherical fruit of 7–8 mm and 0.50 g, no pubescence, short peduncle.
ORCHARD PROFILE
Grow with intent.
Medium-to-low vigour and semi-erect habit; annual growth of 120–140 cm, with very abundant fruiting on the previous year's growth. Economic yields from year 3; yield potential of 14–16 t/ha in mature irrigated orchards at 3.5 × 1.25 m. Tolerant to fusarium wilt. The shortest thorns in the range (2–4 cm).
HARVEST
A distinct harvest position.
The latest cultivar of the range — twenty days after Clara — with a harvest window of 12–14 days. It closes the Orberry harvest calendar.
WATCH-OUTS
Plan for the site.
Slow, pendulous growth in the first year — stake at planting. Lower tonnage than the other cultivars; the value is in the content.
Juice composition: irrigated culture in Arad, five-year averages; oil is measured in fresh fruit. Yield potential: irrigated mature orchard at 3.5 × 1.25 m; results depend on site, season and management.
POLLINATION
Designed with Andros in mind.
Sea buckthorn is wind-pollinated. Andros is integrated according to planting geometry, pollination needs and field layout; its final number and placement are planned for your orchard.
